Angela Arredondo, Secretary
Angela Arredondo, a devoted member of the Assist The Officer Foundation (ATO) board, brings a wealth of experience and commitment to the organization's mission.
Angela has served as a Dallas Police Officer for an impressive 25 years, undertaking diverse roles such as Patrol, Vice, Robbery Unit/FBI Task Force, and Homicide Unit/SIU. Currently, she serves as a canine handler in the Explosive Detection Canine Squad, partnered with Apollo, a skilled bomb-detection canine.
Motivated by her experiences in the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Angela faced the challenges of handling some of the most difficult cases in DPD history. Notably, she played a role in the aftermath of the tragic events of July 7th, 2016, and the capital murder of Rogelio Santander in 2018. Angela personally witnessed the crucial assistance ATO provided to officers dealing with such incidents, including herself. The ATO counseling program played a vital role in helping her cope with the stress and nightmares, inspiring her deeper involvement and contribution to ATO.
Beyond her dedication to duty, Angela finds joy in watching her daughter, Kate, play volleyball. She also cherishes quality time spent traveling with family and friends.
In addition to her role at ATO, Angela, along with her daughter, initiated the non-profit organization "Kate’s Books" in 2016. This initiative collects and distributes new and gently used books to children who may not have regular access to libraries. Angela has been actively involved in community service, dedicating 25 years to the Santa Cops program and volunteering as the Chair of Safety for her church/school parish, St. Monica Catholic Church.
Born and raised in Dallas within a police family, Angela's father and uncle were both Dallas police officers. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Midwestern State University.
Angela Arredondo's multifaceted background, unwavering dedication to her community, and personal experiences make her a compassionate and effective advocate for the mission of Assist The Officer Foundation.
